How To Draw The Ampersand Symbol

Friends, it'south fourth dimension for our next post in the Basic Paw Lettering series! Nosotros've worked on the alphabet, now it'south time to learn a bones ampersand that you can customize and embellish in all kinds of fun means.

You will need:
a marker {whatever kind will practice; mine is a black Tombow Dual Brush Marker}
paper

Step 1: Draw a shape that resembles a backwards "three" or a cursive capital letter "East."
I like to add a little loop in the center, but information technology's totally up to you.

Step 2: Add a loop with a curving line to the lesser.
Ideally, steps one and 2 will become ane fluid motion, but for now as you're practicing, information technology'southward totally fine to piece of work one step at a time.

Step 3: Add a loop to the top .
Once again, this is totally optional, I just like to add it equally an actress embellishment.

Step iv: Go back and add an actress line to the downstroke areas.
This is the same affair nosotros did with our basic letters. If you similar, y'all can leave your ampersand just like this with the open double line look. Or, you can motility on to step five.

Step 5: Colour in between your lines to thicken the downstrokes.
This is a basic ampersand. There are lots of stylistic choices you can make, though, to embellish and personalize it!

For example, instead of coloring in the lines, you can add together stripes, polka dots, or whatsoever other pattern you like instead!

Or, you can fill in the double lines with a unlike color, similar I did in this piece.
